I am updating my online information to be as user friendly as possible - so check out my NEW, improved and work-in-progress BLOG. I hope you'll bookmark it, subscribe to it, RSS it...however you want to be notified of what's new with me, keep in touch with me please! As I try to expland my business visability into the search engines, I'm using my blog more and more to showcase my new work, and to tag, categorize and be content aware. I need to pull up my business name in the searches for Purcellville Photographer, Leesburg Photographer, Ashburn Photographer, Loudoun County Photographer...well, you get it, right?

The new site will give details of my session types, basic pricing, etc. I've also been busy putting all my forms online and getting my online payments for credit cards set up. We're going green, folks!

You can help me by Googling your town's name and the word photographer, and if I show up under the google maps - even on a lower page - click on my name! It brings me up further in the searches if you do so and I'd be very appreciative of the "organic growth" that will bring my business. Search Engine Optimization is a big business now, and a complicated one at that. I'm determined to at least get a chance to tell people I'm here, and try to win their business at least.

Growing Stage Drama Camps - Loudoun County Virginia Photgraphy

I was contacted by Growing Stage of Loudoun County to offer photographic services to the parents of the dress rehearsals of three productions this summer - Cinderella, High School Musical, and Pirates of Penzance. The performances are all part of their summer camps for elementary, middle and high school kids. I am photographing all the dress rehearsals and offering the prints and/or DVD of the photos of each camp to the parents for sale. Here are just a few of the first production, Cinderella- which was performed at the Lucketts Community Center earlier this month. Stay tuned for the production of High School Musical at the Lucketts Community Center again, and then Pirates of Penzance later this month at Franklin Park.

Rock the Field - Purcellville Virginia Photography - Loudoun Music

On a simple Sunday afternoon in Purcellville Virginia Fireman's Field turned from a quiet little park into a full blown rock concert venue by Loudoun Music. Loudoun Music is a wonderful resource for the many talented kids in the Loudoun County area helping bands develop, offering music lessons and even giving guidance on stage presence. I had the pleasure of photographing these talented folks while they did their free concert for Purcellville - and I enjoyed every minute of it!

Meet Kelly! She's cute, fun, smart - and we are gonna have fun this year on our session "forays"! Well, if it ever stops raining that is....seems Kelly and I have a rain destiny...every time we schedule a time to go out, it rains. It's probably me, Kelly - don't take it personally at all! Today was a re-schedule of a re-schedule...and of course, it rained. But we managed about 15 shots just as the drops starting falling and then had to call it quits. I promise Kelly, we'll get LOTS more than this before you graduate! And if it rains every time, we'll just have to use the studio and find other indoor locations!

There are still a couple openings for senior representatives at a few other local high schools- if you attend any Loudoun or Clarke County High School, contact me to see if your school has an opening! The senior rep program is very lucrative and a lot of fun too!

Addie and I are getting to be old hats at these tricks - I use her to model in locations and she gies me beautiful smiles and poses everytime! Part of it might be that she's incredibly comfortable in front of the camera and the other part is just plain simple - she's easy going, and downright fun to be around. Thank you Addie, for letting me drag you all over and for running to catch the light with me! I get a little crazy with the sweet light and ultimately just need to find a way to stop time every evening for about 2 hours to be able to get all the locations I want to shoot in at the perfect times!

Hi everyone...I'm still alive and well, just frustrated as all! Our internet provided "upgraded" some equipment and now our connection is pretty much non-existent for surfing or doing anything on the internet. As someone who uses the internet pretty much for EVERYTHING, I am in a bad situation right now. Because of where we live, we don't have a lot of options at all and with this situation coming up so quickly, it will take a bit of time to resolve. We are looking at satellite again, but that stinks with the download policies...pretty much making it impossible for me to do business. We are even considering putting up our own tower LOL! Things are really crazy, but I'm sitting at Starbucks and Panera and anywhere I can get a plug for my laptop and internet to surf and to upload stuff. It's really hard with the poor doggie right now being in "Recovery" from her surgery -which by the way, went as good as could be expected. Now we recover.
If you didn't know, our Border Collie Maggie had to have an ACL repair surgery this past Tuesday. The recover is basically 6 weeks, and she has limited mobility. She only wants to be at my side, so I'm pretty much glued to the kitchen table when I'm home. I have to listen to her cry and whine if I even go to the bathroom around the corner. It's quite pathetic! I feel so sorry for her, though...it looks really painful.
I promise to try to keep connected to the "world" whenever I can. I can see a bunch of stuff on my iPhone (thank goodness for AT&T connections even at the house!)...and I am trying to get out at least once a day if I can to get internet.
So call me - the old fashioned way....home is 540 554 8743 and cell is always on these days 703 328 7675!

My "vacation" was to prowl around Walt Disney World with my camera and a macro lens..but Mother Nature threw me a curve ball when she decided it would rain every day of the vacation! In between rain drops and torrential downpours, I managed to find a few flowers that weren't beaten up and then early one morning went back to the butterfly garden to snag these pictures so the trip wouldn't be a total "wash up".

Here's hoping the next trip to WDW isn't this bad weather wise....hmmm...but September is hurricane season, isn't it????

So not only did I join PPA - Professional Photographer's of America - but I also joined the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce AND the Purcellville Business and Professional's Association! Wow....that's a LOT for me!

I'm excited about the opportunities to meet new people and share my portrait photography business with them, and hope that all this exposure is a good thing! I know this means a lot more socializing and probably that networking thing too...but I think it's time for that next step.

Watch out Loudoun County - Patty Schuchman Photography is open for portrait business and you'll be seeing and hearing a lot of me in the coming months!

Beginnings....the next "focus" for my clients!

Beginnings...it's where it all starts. So think about engagement photos, intimate weddings, newborn babies, maternity...that's what you will find in my soon to be launched new marketing effort - "Beginnings by Patty Schuchman Photography". The Senior Info guide was SUCH a big success, and having one concise place where a potential client can go to get all the info they need about a potential, booked, or even just finished session is so convienent for my clients that I decided I need to do that for this concentration area also. I'll be branding the new marketing effort with a new logo of sorts, and the soon to be release Beginnings Info Guide. The Info guide will have everything you need to know about a newborn, maternity, engagement or small wedding session AND your options once the session is done - print pricing, books, etc.
I want to make getting the information you need easy, and make it an enjoyable experience at the same time.

I am excited to have finally figured this piece of my business out, and to be able to offer a more current and concise way to keep in touch with my customers. The newsletter will give you the latest specials and new offerings, plus keep you up to date with what might be coming down the pike from Patty Schuchman Photography. If you aren't currently subscribed to my newsletter, you can do so now - just use the link at the top right of this page and you'll be set to stay tuned with the latest and greatest!

I do commit that I will NEVER share my mailing list with another company, I promise it is safe and secure - and that I will not send you information you haven't asked for. We worked during her session to find poses that showed her as approachable, fun loving, but also as "business". I think we found a good balance! I've had SO MANY requests for THIS shot...the cap & gown walking away shot...I love it, and it's a great photo for a thank you card from a graduation party, or even on the graduation announcement. Since I've had so many folks say they want this shot, and since this kind of shot is all about the timing, I'm setting up a couple days on my calendar just to shoot these kinds of shots. The wedding was timed for sunset and they had the most yummy colors reigning down on them - this union must be blessed! Carole Napolitano, of Synergies, was a wonderful client to work with! We spent a few hours together in her log cabin office...she wanted photos to use on her web site and one to send along with what was supposed to be a short article about her business, Synergies, in the February 2008 edition of Washington Woman magazine. Well, we had so much fun...and she got so many great images to use! And the bonus - she ended up with a 3 page article about her business and I got a photo credit in the magazine for the portrait!

Once again, the family descended upon Disney World...and we took it upon ourselves to do it OUR way. Family favorite, Toy Story Mania! Of course, with Mr. Potato Head as it's STAR, it would be my favorite at least!

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather, and the chance to see some attractions with little wait during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. And of course, the fireworks were amazing.

By the end of the week, the world had discovered our secret, and the crowds were out in full force! But it was a week to remember...and here are just a few of our memories!

I am so blessed in my life to have wonderful friends, and on this day, three of them came over to play model. They wanted new Facebook profile pictures, and came with a great attitude even though none of these ladies like to have their photo taken! We had SO MUCH FUN! It was a giggle fest, and I hope all my sessions are this much fun in the future!

Aren't they beautiful? I had the pleasure of spending a few hours today with these two young women and I am so excited to have had the chance to work with them! They are not only beautiful, but so easy and fun to be with too. I hope to get to spend more time with them and also hope that they enjoyed the time today as much as I did!

Hi again! I'm once again pushing for some new faces that are interested in doing some "modeling" for me. I need girls and/or boys to meet me in a few local locations (or I can pick up and drive if you'd rather) this coming weekend, September 20 or 21, late afternoon for the best lighting. I'd like to go to the gardens at Morven Park if we can work it out.

Walt Disney World...again! Most of you are probably bored with my Disney pics, but I did get to play with my new 50 1.4 lens and I enjoyed the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this time also. Fireworks continue to allude me as to HOW TO, but I'll get it yet. This trip was mostly about the yearly pin event, which is trading and socializing...and I enjoyed all of that!

So most folks know that my oldest son participates in the James Madison University Tae Kwon Do club. I have the honor of being able to photograph this club and share those images with the club members. I wanted to add some of my favs from last year, because it's almost time for me to go back to JMU and see the new bunch of club members for this year! I can't wait to see the belt tests this year!

I am such a bad blogger....

I know, I know...blogs are about talking to folks...but I never think anyone cares to hear what I have to say...so I never say anything. It's probably a good thing that my original photo blog got deleted (because I was stupid) .... because my ramblings there are gone forever now HAHA! But I thought I would post that now about why there are so few words in my posts. Do you ever feel like your talking to the walls? That's kind of how I feel about my blog. I beg for comments, I feel. So few people even KNOW about my blog I guess. I don't use it for business advertising, I have a web site that I prefer to send client to for that. I use this blog just to show any new work I'm happy with...so other photographers can stop by and so I can keep in touch with my cyber friends.
I tried a blog previous to this, a more traditional about my life blog. Well, my life must be UBER boring, because I never had a comment on that blog AT ALL. As a matter of fact, that was the blog I was trying to delete when I accidently deleted this one two weeks ago. Duh. I have two blogger accounts, and that is a pain in the butt to keep up with!
So that's why I don't say much. Anyone else in the same boat?

I participated in the first Photowalk - this one was in Brunswick, Maryland. It was an interesting day, and I decided to just go with the flow and capture whatever I wanted...not really work very hard to find "the shot". A couple that stand out from the day as better captures are here...I'm happy with them.

What a fun family this was! I primarily wanted new faces for my website, and I got three! These kids were so much fun to work with, and I enjoyed playing with a new portable softbox for my flash too.
